Rhodes University is seeking two experienced and qualified electricians in Makhanda to join their dynamic Electrical Section. This is a permanent opportunity in the higher education sector for candidates with strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and excellence.
As part of the facilities team, electricians will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems across campus. This includes medium and low voltage systems, lighting installations, generators, UPS systems, and commercial kitchen appliances. A deep understanding of SANS regulations, MV/LV switching, and power distribution is essential.
Applicants must have a valid Installation Electrician qualification (minimum NQF Level 4), an HV Regs certificate, registration with the Department of Labour, and at least three years of post-apprenticeship experience. A valid driver’s license is required.
Candidates with additional experience in solar energy systems, heat pumps, fire detection systems, or staff supervision will have an advantage.
