What the Cleaner Job at Dis Chem Involves
This cleaning job opportunity is more than basic janitorial work. You will maintain Dis-Chem’s high hygiene standards across different store areas, including:
Store floors and front of house
Stock rooms and dispensary areas
Admin offices and canteen
Customer restrooms and communal spaces

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following:
Grade 12 / Matric certificate
At least 6 months’ cleaning experience
English language proficiency (spoken and written)
Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
Ability to perform physical duties (standing, bending, lifting)
Advantageous Skills
Although not mandatory, the following will give you an edge:
Bilingual communication skills
Prior retail store cleaning experience
Familiarity with cleaning tools and safety protocols
Key Responsibilities of the Casual Cleaner
Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic conditions throughout the store before opening hours
Ensure restrooms, canteens, and high-traffic areas are regularly cleaned and stocked
Be on-hand to clean spills or hazards during operating hours
Use the correct cleaning agents and equipment for each job
Always display wet floor signage during mopping
Deliver professional customer interaction when approached
Required Competencies
