Job Purpose
As a Cashier at Dis-Chem Hemmingways, you will play a crucial role in ensuring an excellent customer experience at the point of sale. You’ll be responsible for processing transactions, managing cash flow, and maintaining high service standards while following Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures.
Accuracy, honesty, and efficiency are key in this role. You’ll represent the brand and ensure that every customer leaves the store satisfied.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations.
Basic computer literacy (MS Office).
Sound numerical and communication skills.
Excellent command of English (written and verbal).
Basic customer service experience.
Must be willing and able to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures at all times.
Build professional relationships with customers and ensure their shopping experience is pleasant.
Handle customer complaints and queries effectively, escalating issues when necessary.
Maintain a high level of accuracy while recording transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system.
Manage cash flow and ensure all transactions are processed correctly and securely.
Report price changes, voids, or returns for approval.
Handle various forms of payments including cash, credit cards, loyalty points, and vouchers.
Be aware of ongoing sales, promotions, and product discounts.
Follow all store safety and security procedures to reduce risk.
Place all money securely into drop safes as per company policy.
Maintain confidentiality regarding store finances and customer information.
